About me
As far back as I can remember I used to enjoy watching my father in his workshop building different pieces from timber. They were not overly complicated or complex in design, but I was intrigued by the idea that you could take a basic piece of timber and turn it into something beautiful. Those early days led to my passion of the past 35 years, to create fine furniture from timber. Since my arrival in Australia 25 years ago from Boston I have been fortunate to have been able to create many beautiful pieces from Australian timbers and exotic timbers from around the world. I have also had the privilege to have restored many fine Australian antiques as well as furniture from other parts of the world. The majority of work that I do is custom made furniture. Furniture made especially for you to meet your needs and requirements. I also restore and re-finish antique furniture. The process is a consultative one starting with a visit to establish your desires, designing a piece that will meet your needs, building the piece of furniture, and delivering it at a mutually agreed upon date, time, and price. I have over thirty years experience in making high quality furniture to meet your needs. All joinery is traditional; mortise & tenon, dovetail, all joins that will stand the test of time. Each piece is finished by hand to suit your colour and finish requirement. They are all signed and dated by me. Stephen Jay
